Firmware 2.41 available now
The rumours were true.Firmware v2.41 is now available for download, so for those of you who didn't manage to get 2.40 before it was removed from circulation, here's your first chance to try out the new in-game XMB and Trophy systems.
We're happy to report that the download speed is good at present too, although once word gets out that may change!
"As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn't display after the update was installed.
We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we'll be looking forward to seeing everyone online and racking up those trophies!" - Eric Lempel, SCEA

Luckily, I'm still covered by a warranty. I'm still scared to download this new update. After losing my last PS3, I'm afraid to brick the new one with a faulty update. We'll see what happens.
The problem was particularly ambiguous Reesimo and wouldn't have been caught in the usual QA process.
I would suggest 2.41 is pretty solid. Certainly, problem repotrs started appearing within 4 hours when 2.40 came out, and yet there are no such reports with 2.41 after 10+ hours.
