PS3 Last Remnant sets sail for 2009

The very well-known magazine Famitsu, in its latest issue (Famitsu PS3 Vol.XIII DKΣ3713 EX.Report), informed us that Square Enix's Last Remnant will be released simultaneously on both systems (PS3, Xbox360).

Sadly for us PS3 owners, Famitsu took back what they said, by posting a correction on IGN. According to that post, Last Remnant is still coming out in November 20 for the Xbox 360, with the PS3 version to be released in TBA 2009.

Why do you think that happened? Is it a matter of timed exclusivity or due to problems in development with the PS3 version? Last Remnant is the first Square Enix's game developed with the Unreal Engine 3.

Timed exclusives are the latest craze from MS, so that is going to be my bet. It is also one of the most annoying marketing tools in the palette, delaying a release for owners of another console is just plain wrong. No matter who is doing it.

Indeed.
I couldn't agree more.
Microsoft has been doing that for quite a long time now.
As far as I'm concerned, this is nothing more that a "cheap" and desperate way to affect the competition in a negative way.

I remember reading that The Last Remnant was to launch on both systems simultaneously, but that the Unreal Engine caused problems in the PS3development, so it was pushed back.
