European PS Store update for 28th August

This weeks European PS Store update is a little less than I expected, but The Last Guy should tie me over for a few hours, and with the new Warhawk expansion I really need to get in there and see how bad I really am.

I wonder where the Warhawk 3 in 1 bundle is though...

Anyone else?

The Last Guy Spotted, Headed to PSN Tomorrow

Yes indeed, The Last Guy will be available for purchase tomorrow via the PS Store and inside the demo itself for $9.99. The original list PSN games keeps getting better and better don't you think?

With 15 stages varying from London, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Sydney, Berlin, and Chinatown in Yokohama, Japan there should be enough for world travelers out there to enjoy.

The full game offers more zombies, zombie bosses, online rankings and different ratings depending how well you perform in each level. The Last Guy smiles upon perfection it seems, PlayStation.Blog's Josh Miller hints : "Who knows, maybe something cool will happen if you get a good “clear” rating on all the levels… ". Easily done Mr. PlayStation.Blog U.S. Producer Josh Miller, you seem to forget that I am the last guy! The Last Guy is me! ... Sorry, I should not have said that.

The Last Guy trailer appears

Looks like our man in Japan was spot on.

Take a look at the newly released trailer for The Last Guy, and you'll see everything we told you was true! Woo hoo!

A 'rescue game', the title seems to take cues from the likes of the classic 'Snake' and 'Centipede' games and ramp up the volume with 'better than Google Earth' visuals and a classic 80's soundtrack.

Go see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

The teaser site has also been updated, and includes hints that more information will be made available on the 25th and 29th July. We'll update you as it happens.

The Last Guy site gets an update; confusion reigns

As promised, Sony Japan updated the teaser site for The Last Guy.

What did we get in this update?

A comedy video from the fictional Indian development company that are producing the game, which comes across as something that Free Radical might produce.

In fact, the lead character looks, sounds and acts a little like an Hindustani Rob Yescombe!

There is another update promised for next Friday. Oh Sony - how you do tease us.

The Last Guy is a 'rescue game'

A while back, some trademark spotters saw that Sony had secured the title 'The Last Guy', and everyone assumed it was for a forthcoming game.

Sony Japan have now launched a teaser site for the aforementioned game. What do we know right now?

  • It involves a lot of red stickmen.
  • The teaser site soundtrack seems to be a direct rip-off - sorry - homage to 'Popcorn' by Hot Butter. You may remember this track from the old ZX Spectrum game, Pyjamarama (a sort of Manic Miner rip-off - honestly, I mean homage).
  • A launch-party image from GameSpot Japan (below) tells us that the United Rescue Force are, in some way, involved in all this.
  • We'll all know more on the 11th July (this Friday).

Thankfully, we can fill in some of the gaps for you.

Our man in Japan tells us to expect a 'rescue game', with a top-down view of a city and the task of leading civilians to the 'Escape Zone'. Apparently, you'll need to save V.I.Ps too for extra bonus points.

Where do the red stickmen come in? Don't worry - the graphics are apparently top-notch as you'd expect, but in the status screen after each level everyone you have saved is represented by one of the stickmen. The V.I.P stickmen are bigger and carry more points, naturally.

We've been told the city itself looks like Google Earth on steroids, as if the satellites they were using had 20 megapixel cameras and were hovering from just a mile up. Whether The Last Guy uses actual cityscape photos or a 3D representation is up for grabs.

Come back in two days and we'll have more for you.
