David Jaffe talks new game’s release and possible influences?
David Jaffe, creative director of PlayStation titles Twisted Metal and God of War, has posted on his blog that, last Wednesday, he met with Sony to discuss his new secret game with the intention of pinning down a release date.
You might remember that David left SCEA (and the God of War franchise in the capable hands of SCE Studios Santa Monica) to form his own studio Eat Sleep Play. The studio then promptly signed a three game exclusive deal with Sony.
Speculation has been rampant of what Jaffe’s new game might be. Interestingly, his blog states he’s playing MGS4 and Jeanne d’Arc on the PSP at the moment while watching (and enjoying) Miyazaki’s Howl Moving Castle so there’s a chance the new game could have a strong Eastern influence.
Regarding timelines, Jaffe reveals that he’s pencilling in a release of the new mystery game for the near future. “My gut/guess tells me we’re looking sometime in 2010. Certainly not later than that. Perhaps sooner.”
As big fans of Kratos and Jaffe’s work in general – we’re officially giddy with excitement.
