God of War III Shown – Minds Blown

Submitted by on Monday, 24 November 20082 Comments

It was only last week we were talking about David Jaffe’s new top secret game but it’s the property he “left” that most of us are eager to hear more details about.

You’ll recall that God of War III was shown at E3 this year in more of a “Yes, it exists” type exposé rather than a “Here’s some actual footage” kind of revelation. We’ve commented before how we felt let-down by E3 this year and Kratos’ CGI appearance was one of the factors that contributed to why we thought that all three of the console makers had a poor showing.

With Kratos’ new outing coming next year we’ve all been hoping it’s going to be a spectacular game but could the visuals actually surpass anything that has come before it? Are we looking at the best looking game – ever?

David Jaffe has once again opened his big mouth (he won’t mind us saying this – he announces proudly on his site that he has a big mouth) on his personal blog that he has in fact seen God of War III. And not fancy pre-rendered animations either.

We’d post exactly what he said but it’s so full of expletives that it would become a series of baffling asterisks. The severely censored version is: “I thought GEARS OF WARS 2 looked about as good as a next-gen game could look….and that game is currently – and will probably remain – my game of the year. And unless I get blown away by PoP or something else I missed, GEARS 2 is the SHIT this year. Dudes and dudettes, f*****g WAIT till you see the amazing graphics [of God of War III] … just f*****g wait.”

Could God of War III be the best looking game on any console next year? How will the game-play be? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
