Open Home Beta “not far away” – also, Sharing is NOT caring

TedTheDog, Home Community Manager, (like we have to tell you this by now) has posted again on the community boards about the recent email issue which saw some/most Home beta invites not reach their recipients. Ted promises that they’re still “working on the issue which is external and related to the volume of mail we’re trying to send overall.”

Of the projected 100,000 emails that were to be sent, apparently only 20,000 got through. The good news is that the vast majority of those who managed to receive the invite took Sony up on the offer and phoned Home.

The remainder will still be sent with the intention of getting them all out before the new batch this Thursday.

Apart from the email update Ted also touches upon the phenomenon of “gamesharing” with respect to Home. Ted states: “We’ve obviously removed the firewall from Home now so it works much like many PSN Games with multiple accounts. However, “gamesharing” involves sharing personal account details and this is just plain dumb.” Why is it dumb? Well, Ted states that giving your details to someone else bears the risk of “not getting it back” but we’re sure Sony’s annoyance regarding the practice is more in relation to the fact that they can’t adequately monitor usage/load/stress tests. Amongst other things.

As an appeasement, TheDog signs off with: “Open Beta isn’t that far away.”
