PS3 Attitude Awards; Best New IP nominees

The PS3 Attitude Awards nominees continue with the Best New IP – those new franchises that our beloved game developers have created in the last 12 months.
So which title stole your heart? Which game will take home the prize? You decide…
Our Best New IP award goes to any title in a brand new franchise that was released between 1st December 2007 and 30th November 2008.
So will Uncharted chart a course for success? Or will Mirror’s Edge leap to victory?
Does Dead Space deserve to survive? Or will Valkyria Chronicles battle to the top?
Will LittleBigPlanet create a place on the podium?

It has to be LittleBigPlanet but Drake … Drake! DRAAAAAAAAAAKE!!
I’d have to go with Uncharted. There is plenty of room for the story to be expanded in future sequels. I’m already looking forward to playing the next installment. As for LBP, How different could LBP2 be from the original? With all the user created content already out there(and growing) Media Molecule would have to make some major changes to the game for me to consider buying LBP2. Otherwise I wouldn’t see the value in it.
I can’t comment on the other games yet as I have not played them yet. (Blasphemy! I know.)
I completely agree with you LCaruana but the way I see it is that best IP is not Best Game or Best Possible Sequel but the biggest new game that introduced an iconic character to the gaming industry.
On that front alone, I think Sackboy trumps Drake and therefore LBP gets my vote.
Maybe we need a new category. I would agree that Sackboy is the best new iconic character. But considering the entire LBP and Uncharted Universes as new IPs, I would say Uncharted is better mainly because it gives Naughty Dog more to expand on. Media Molecule created and excellent game but expansion is on the user created content side. As a company I don’t see how they can expand this IP as much as Naughty Dog can. Considering all the time and money that goes into creating a new IP I would consider Possible sequels (or maybe a better indicator would be customer demand for a sequel) as part the decision in picking the best New IP. Over the next 8 years (the remaining lifecycle of the PS3) what will you be looking forward to more.. Uncharted or LBP sequels?

You have me : I’d more looking forward to a Drake sequel than a LBP one.

My vote is squarely on LBP. No other game this year has brought so much to the table.
There are some stunning new IP’s out there, but this really does mark a complete step change in my humblest of humble opinions.
