little_big_planet_crownThough the DLC may have dried up for a few weeks, the inventive and creative world of LittleBigPlanet continues to spin, offering up wonderful events and prizes for the Sack population.

LittleBigLand has announced what a lot of you budding game designers have been eagerly awaiting – the first official Little Big Planet level design competition.

Check after the Sackboy hop for details of the competition guidelines and the fantastic prizes on offer. One certain regal ornament is sure to be the envy of all Sackites out there.

The website lays out the foundation for your level submission by stating:

“You are tasked with creating a unique level with the theme Journey to Little Big Land – we are looking for magical, mystical or mechanical levels and we are particularly fond of clever puzzles, mechanical marvels, fantastical creatures and unique gadgets. Above all it should be fun, unique and inventive.”

The winning designer will be coronated with a “money can’t buy” Rare Prize Crown courtesy of Sam Protagonist at the LittleBigWorkshop along with a 4GB USB memory stick and a PSEye. The runner up will receive a PS3 wireless keypad along with a 4GB USB memory stick also. A further three other burgeoning designers will also pick up one of these USB sticks.

All entries must be submitted before 11.59pm GMT March 1st 2009. Anybody from any region can enter.

Finally, the naming convention of your submission must begin with “LBL#1-“. With the inclusion of the number we can only assume that this is the start of many such LittleBigLand competitions planned.
