New PSN titles announced; Peggle coming “shortly”.

peggle7 300x225 New PSN titles announced; Peggle coming shortly.SOE and PopCap games have announced that a slew of classic casual games will be hitting the PSN soon.

Though Bejewled 2 is actually available today in NA (Europe to follow suit shortly), other favourites that include Zuma, Heavy Weapon, and Feeding Frenzy will follow shortly.

The most exciting part of the announcement however is that popular “peg-themed” title Peggle will also finally see a PSN outing.

Check after the jump for some more details including a brief description of each of the upcoming puzzlers.

You should know Bejeweled 2, even if the title itself doesn’t immediately evoke images of baubles swapping and popping out of existence.

Zuma is another tricky mind-melter from PopCap involving balls rolling around a predetermined path that must be unceremoniously eliminated before they reach your “yellow skull complex”. Sounds weird but strangely enjoyable.

Heavy Weapon is a tank game with the armoured behemoth under your control only movable from left to right and in Feeding Frenzy you jump up the aquatic food chain by eating bigger and bigger fish.

Also announced in the communication is the arrival of Peggle to the PSN. We single-out Peggle for the simple reason that it is like the crack-cocaine of puzzle games and has enjoyed immense popularity on other platforms from the iPod to XBL.

Peggle’s objective is mind-numbingly simple: each 2D level contains different coloured pegs that must be eliminated by the player by firing a ball from the top of the screen. Trust us, if you’ve just managed to break the “pernicious PixelJunk Monsters cycle”, you may want to stay away from this habit-forming game.

No exact date for when Peggle and the others (apart from Bejeweled 2) will be out other than “very soon”.

Bejeweled 2 is priced at $9.99. Pricey considering there are free versions online but what do we know? Tell us what you think in the comments.
