PixelJunk Eden Nominated for 3 Independent Games Festival Awards

Submitted by on Thursday, 8 January 2009No Comment

pixeljunk_eden_04The PixelJunk games are firm favourites in these parts and in general around the globe.

From Monsters to Eden (and even Racers), Q-Games have provided many of us with some truly imaginative and, most importantly, fun games on the PS3 via the PSN.  Hence, it’s with great satisfaction to see that the guys and gals over in Kyoto have received some recognition in the form of three nominations from the judges from the Independent Games Festival for their game Eden.

Check after the jump for the categories Eden has received nominations in.

Now in its eleventh year, the fesitval has recognised such visionary independent studios as 2D Boy (World of Goo) and for Braid’s Jonathan Blow over at Number None. This year the competition is even stiffer with a 30% increase in “For Your Considerations” than last year with Eden up against some truly great indie games like Osmos, Blueberry Garden and Musaic.

Eden didn’t get the nod for the Seamus McNally Grand Prize (which comes with a $50,000 cheque for the winner) though it did pick up nominations in the Excellence In Visual Art, Excellence In Audio and Technical Excellence categories. The ceremony will be held this year at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on March 25th and, though we won’t be there, we’ll be sure to let you know if the “Q-guys” pick up any gongs.
