OFFICIAL: No ‘Run and Gun’ Mode For Resident Evil 5
You can’t get any clearer than this. Capcom Unity’s KRAMEZ tells it like it is in a recent post in Capcom’s popular blog: You can’t shoot while walking or running in Resident Evil 5. No way, no how.
The confusion began back in December when a member of Capcom’s crack team (who was totally not on crack) misspoke when he was grilled asked about the new RE5 controls saying that the new so-called “action” controls would allow players to move and shoot at the same time.
This turned out to be absolutely not true. Just an honest mistake. Nothing more. There will be however, new ways to control the game.
With four control schemes in total, options A and B are very close to a ‘classic’ Resident Evil experience, while C and D are more focused on a more natural motion using the second analog stick on your PS3 controller. Also worthy of mention, you will be able to strafe in a Resident Evil game for the first time. But not while shooting.
So to be absolutely clear I’ll quote the source:
THE NEW CONTROL OPTIONS IN RESIDENT EVIL 5 DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO MOVE AND SHOOT SIMULTANEOUSLY. (…) TO REPEAT: THERE IS NO “RUN AND GUN” IN RESIDENT EVIL 5.
And now you know.
