Resident Evil 5; 8/10 from PlayStation Official Mag UK
As you would expect, they pick up on the fact that RE5 is all about ‘panicked crisis management’ – balancing your inventory with your immediate requirements as hordes of zombie types try to end your life in unique and interesting ways.
What does come through in the review is how good Sheva’s AI is, but these points are balanced out by the painful inventory management and the poor cover system that ‘all but kills the fun’.
So what is their conclusion?
In many ways, their review is similar to those we read on Call of Duty: World at War. That well-trodden phrase ‘which is no bad thing’ springs to mind.
You see, CoD:WaW is like CoD4, ‘which is no bad thing’.
RE5 is near identical to RE4, ‘which is no bad thing’.
We reckon that even with its flaws, Resident Evil 5 is still an essential buy for your PS3 library, and in the final paragraph, it would seem that the good people at PlayStation Official Magazine UK agree.
