socom_con_logo_finalPhase two-point-oh is a go.  The SOCOM servers have been updated to give us a new online look and experience.  The website servers that is, the game servers are still a bit wobbly for our taste.

Here’s hoping that they are in fighting shape come SOCOM Confrontation’s European release.  But I digress (again).

The new SOCOM website has new features, forums and the SOCOM blog.  The comments are being moved from the front page blog to the forums for some in-depth discussion.  The biggest addition is the ‘My SOCOM’ pages where you can view your stats, manage your clan, recruit for your clan, list yourself as a free agent, view the leader boards and more.  Although still in the beta stages, they are worth a visit.

In a move straight out of the PlayStation Blog’s playbook, you will now log in using your PSN ID instead of your old Underground ID.  I think I also found this welcome message somewhere*:

I’m Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, your senior drill instructor, from now on you will speak only when spoken to, and the first and the last word out of your filthy sewers will be “Sir”. Do you maggots understand that?
