Prepare To Get Served By Virtua Tennis 2009

vt09_ps3_in_ukv1SEGA is back on the court with another Virtua Tennis for your PS3.  The third SEGA tennis game to grace the PS3 (Virtua Tennis 3 and SEGA Superstars Tennis being the other two), Virtua Tennis 2009 will return with major enhancements and additions this year.

Returning tennis pros include Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams.  New to this year’s roster are some tennis standouts from recent tournaments, including men’s World No.4 Andy Murray and ladies French Open champion Ana Ivanovic.  Another addition is the official licensing from the Davis Cup, giving us the opportunity to lead our country to glory!

Many other additions and improvements are in the works to the arcade-style tennis engine we have come to love.  Player stumbling, improved volleying, serving and net play improve the core game while the popular World Tour Mode returns with new features like a fully integrated online system and new online rankings.  The Player Creation System in World Tour Mode has also been expanded, and a new Tennis Store containing over 800 items will let us create our own unique player to take down Nedal a peg or two in the court.

And yes, the Court Games return with online multiplayer.  We get our favorites back along with some new minigames, full of crocodiles, fruit and pirates.  Just like we want them.  We can’t wait for May 2009 to give this one a spin.
