A Storm is rising: new community website
Stormrise, the new ’3D RTS’ from Sega, is hitting the shelves of your local games emporium later this month.
To prepare for the imminent release of the game, Sega recently updated the official community website.
But what new goodies will you find when you get there?
Images, wallpapers, videos and forums await the eager click-through-er. The first in a special series of podcasts following the adventures of the team behind the scenes is also now available for download. Oh, and there’s even some exclusive concept art accessible for your viewing pleasure.
Intriguing gameplay mechanics combined with impressive graphics mean this could be a real RTS crown contender, encroaching stealthily upon the lofty highs normally reserved for the likes of the ‘Command and Conquer’ series.
The perspective is also more akin to third person shooter than real-time strategy fare. It remains to be seen how this will impact the ‘god-view’ style of play most strategists opt for in similar games in the genre.Â
With the unique ‘Whip Select’ system also in place to make even fine unit control a breeze, this could really mark a step-change in terms of console-based RTS games. Indeed, never has the phrase ‘all your base are belong to us’ been so apt.
We’ll be keeping a beady one on this game as we draw ever-closer to the release date, keeping you up to speed with the skinny.
As always, we’ll no doubt see you on the battlefield, soldier…Â Hoo-rah!
