Dante’s Downfall – Animated Movie Confirmed

Submitted by on Monday, 30 March 2009No Comment

Demons. Unpleasant.EA know how to market their products.

Faced with the tricky task of how to embed the concept of new IP Dead Space into the minds of the masses, the studio hooked up with Starz Media’s Film Roman and collaborated on the stand-alone Dead Space animated prequel “Downfall“.

Now facing a similar challenge with the upcoming hell-bound Dante’s Inferno, EA have announced that they will once again be working with the media company on a full-length Dante’s Inferno animated movie.

What’s interesting about this project is how Starz Media are approaching the distinctive look and feel of Hell’s many domains. Collaborating with some of the top anime companies in the industry at the moment, each company will tackle a different strata of horror with Dante’s backstory playing out across the netherworld regions of limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. There’s also mention of a “true love” by the name of Beatrice who Dante is frantically searching for. We’re not sure who this damsel in distress is but, we’re thinking she might be a saucy minx if she’s already dancing with the devils, if you catch our drift.

Head of Studio for Starz Media’s Film Roman, Jay Fukuto claims:

“This is like nothing else out in the marketplace right now – a visually stunning project based on one of the most powerful stories ever told. It could only happen with a partner with the vision and creativity of EA. They were great collaborators on ‘Dead Space: Downfall,’ and we expect another very rewarding experience with this new feature.”

Expect the movie to coincide with the release of the game which is now officially slated for 2010. There’ll be also be something very interesting and unique regarding Dante’s Inferno here at PS3 Attitude in the coming days, so keep your eyes peeled.
