gdc poker GDC09; Charity poker tournament raises $17,000Every year at GDC a poker tournament is held in aid of charity, and this year was no exception.

According to the event host, ISM Agency, the poker tournament raised $17,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

For more than 25 years, Starlight Children’s Foundation has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and life-altering injuries by providing entertainment, education and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness.

Around 120 games industry professionals played in the tournament.

“We are delighted that the poker tournament has become a GDC tradition for so many people in the industry. We’d like to extend our thanks to the players and our generous sponsors at Warner Bros., Interactive Entertainment and Slingbox Media for supporting the tournament.” – Stewart Kosoy, senior partner at ISM Agency.

As you’d expect, we love anything to do with charity events here at PS3 Attitude. Our hats are duly doffed in the general direction of everyone involved.
