GDC09; LittleBigPlanet â€œhalfway throughâ€ development
Speaking to journalists at GDC, LittleBigPlanet creators Mark Healey and Alex Evans from Media Molecule discussed the current status of the game and the continuing development of theÂ BAFTA award-winning title.
First off, they revealed that LBP is in fact only halfway through development with their focus now on the creation side of the game:
We still feel like we’re halfway through the development of LittleBigPlanet, to be honestâ€¦ That’s the least finished part of the game, which both excites and terrifies me.
The team further discusses the transformation that the game has taken, in particular, the way players create levels.
The previous approach to creating your very own level involved using paint brushes and even shotguns to delete stuff using your Sackboy:
We originally wanted to have no distinction between creation and gameplay at all… But when we decided we wanted to make a full game creation tool, we realised there was no way anybody would want to do that in that interface.
