Magic Ball’s Magic Sales
Ported over to the PS3 in January, the game’s popularity continued and has consistently remained in the top ten PSN download charts since its arrival.
In fact, to date, over two million Magic Ball fanatics have purchased the game across various platforms.
If you’re not one of these 2,000,000+ Magic Ballers, and are on the fence whether not to pick it up, be aware – this is no shoddy port. Magic Ball for the PS3 was rebuilt from the balls up in glorious 720p, uses the Havoc physics engine and sports a complete sound overhaul. In fact: “To date, no other casual release has as many original songs and sound effects.” An impressive claim to fame if there ever was one.
Kirill Plotnikow, VP of Magic Ball’s publishing company, Alawar, reflects on the game’s sales to date:
“It’s a pleasure to see Magic Ball 3 reborn on the PlayStation 3. Owners of the console can now enjoy the breathtaking graphics and exciting gameplay this title offers. Even better, the release of Magic Ball through the PlayStation Network is just the beginning of a larger undertaking. Due to the ongoing success of the series, Magic Ball 4 is now in development and we are close to releasing an iPhone version. I fully believe casual game fans worldwide will enjoy these innovative new products.”
The press release also goes on to extol the game’s multiplayer attributes and its dogged support for expansion packs. We’re going to fess up and state that we are one of the few who haven’t yet taken this ballsy magical plunge.
