david_reeves_sceeDavid Reeves, CEO of SCEE, is to step down at the end of April after first joining the company in 1995.

Back then he was responsible for the regional offices in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, before moving back to the UK in 1999.

As of May the 1st, Andrew House who has taken the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Sony since 2005 will acquire Reeves’ role. He has been with the corporation since 1990.

David Reeves talks about his time at PlayStation:

It has been a wonderful ride with PlayStation. I never got to visit all 106 countries but managed 66… I want to thank all of those people who have supported SCEE and me personally in the past 14 years; you have been magnificent!

We wish David Reeves good things for the future and thank him for his contribution to PlayStation over the years.

Since joining Sony, he has been involved with the launch of four PlayStation consoles that have sold millions in the PAL territory, and so we congratulate him on his success.

Kazuo Hirai, president of SCE had this to say about Reeves:

David’s contribution in firmly establishing the PlayStation brand and expanding the business in Europe/PAL territories in his 14 year tenure at SCEE is immeasurable. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to David for the many accomplishments he made to the PlayStation business and wish him the best luck in his future endeavours.

With the increasing competition in the market today, he has made a huge achievement to push the PlayStation 3 to the position it currently lies in over 100 countries that SCEE covers, with even more potential for the future.

We look forward to seeing Andrew House take his new role in the company.

Hirai has good words to say about him:

I’m very happy to welcome Andrew back to the PlayStation business and to work closely with him again. I’m confident that the skills and expertise Andy has gained over the years working as Sony’s CMO will contribute enormously in leading the PlayStation business in Europe/PAL countries and regions and to bring new initiatives in managing the business in the coming networked era.

As he readies his new position in May, House had this to say about his role and potential growth he can see in the region:

I’m delighted to return to the PlayStation fold and excited to take on this new challenge. I have strong ties to the interactive entertainment industry and I believe there is huge potential for further growth of our business in the Europe/PAL countries and regions, particularly in the area of networked entertainment. I’m looking forward to working with everyone at SCEE and with other groups in Sony to help achieve this potential.

Again we congratulate Reeves on his achievement at Sony and the PlayStation division, and wish House good luck in his new position at the company.
