Fallout: New Vegas announced
We’re not complaining of course as the last game was a bold step (despite its quirks) and we’re looking forward to more post-apocalyptic adventures in the Fallout universe.
Announced at an event in London today, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has rendered all NDAs entirely moot by revealing that a new Fallout RPG is in fact “in development”. It just might not be exactly what you were expecting.
The first thing to note is that Bethesda are not developing the game themselves, the reins thrown over to the capable hands of RPG luminaries Obsidian. This is the same Obsidian who developed Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Neverwinter Nights 2. They’re also hard at work on Alpha Protocol and, up until recently, had an Aliens RPG in the works. When Sega canned this RPG, we’re assuming it freed up the developer to take on new projects.
Enter – Fallout: New Vegas.
Little else is known at the moment other than the title is not a natural continuation on from Fallout 3 and viewed as something of a spin-off. There’s also suggestions that locations from the first two games will pop up.
As soon as we know more, we’ll update this post. We reckon now that the cat is out of the bag however, Bethesda will probably be staying shtum until they have more to dazzle us with.
