Six Days in Fallujah dropped after heavy criticism
The (non)upcoming controversial title, Six Days in Fallujah, has been dropped by publisher Konami after receiving heavy criticism from the community. The game, which depicts the battle between US forces and local insurgents in Fallujah in 2004, has already gained negative publicity due to its raw and recent subject matter.
After much pressure from military families among others, saying that releasing the game would dishonor those serving in Iraq, Konami has decided that it is in the companies best interest to not publish the game.
“After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it,†a spokesperson for Konami comments. “We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there.â€
While we no doubt have our own opinions on the title, it is unfortunate to see this get cancelled without much detail known about the game aside from the setting. Atomic Games, developers of the game, now looking for a new publisher but who knows if this game will ever see the light of day.
