Valkyria Chronicles DLC priced and dated

Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...

Valkyria Chronicles DLC Coming SoonIt seemed only yesterday that we were telling you about some new DLC for perpetually under-appreciated and allround excellent RPG Valkyria Chronicles. OK, it was actually last month but who’s counting?

We’ve just received word from Sega that the new DLC will be available on April 18th.

Want to know what it’s going to cost you? Check out below.

For those unwilling to click on a link, and thereby generating more revenue for our charity, here are the details of what the pack contains once more:

Hard EX Mode – fight your way through the entire Imperial army, where the enemies are more lethal and your main tank Edelweiss is unavailable. You’ll have to be more strategic in order to overcome your opponents.

Edy’s Mission “Enter the Edy Detachment” – six members have been separated from Squad 7 and on their journey to reunite with their squad, they stumble upon a tiny village under attack by the Imperial Army. Play as Edy and command your outnumbered team to defend the small village from annihilation.

Selvaria’s Mission “Behind Her Blue Flame”– Taking place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines, you play as Johann, a young and meek engineer assigned to Selvaria’s troop. See the action as it unfolds behind enemy lines and experience the war play out through the eyes of the enemy.

All this for the unbelievable price of €3.99/£3.19 (we’re assuming $3.99 though this is not officially stated in the press release).

Before you ask, we’re still waiting for Sega to confirm if trophies will be part of the next update/pack. In the meantime, enjoy these new missions and the tougher challenge of Hard EX mode.

The problem with not having trophy support from the start is the danger that we might have to start the game over again just to get trophies. Take the first Uncharted for instance. It could be argued that people waiting to buy games on Platinum if they start off without trophies might get a bit more bite out of the game.
So the question is do we say ‘meh’ to the absence of trophies or wait?

Aye, it can be an issue. I’m a big trophy fan, as it gives you a list of games you’ve played you can scroll down and trigger a whole lot of memories, and so have been sitting on a purchased copy of VC until they’re confirmed or not. I have, however, purchased the game so that Sega know that they’re on the money with games like that (and because I’m sure I’d enjoy it, trophies or no – just I’d prefer it with trophies so that it’s on the list and I’ll enjoy the memories better).
