Killzone 2 1.25 patch available; results may vary

killzone2 steel Killzone 2 1.25 patch available; results may varyHot on the heels of 1.24, Guerrilla Games have unleashed a new Killzone 2 patch.

Imaginatively entitled 1.25, you’ll no doubt be wanting to know what the 16MB of Helghan tinged goodness brings to the table.

Not a lot if we’re being honest but, considering its close proximity to the previous update, and the fact that the new Steel and Titanium pack has just hit and now would be a good time to stick in a friendly message telling people of its existence, it was almost a given that this patch would be a little light on features.

That’s not to say it’s all smoke and mirrors as they have at least:

  • Fixed some minor bugs (though didn’t go into just what is now corrected)
  • Added a Steel & Titanium message (see above)
  • Sped up the loading screen (which is nice)
  • Shortened the “last kills time” from 10-15 seconds to roughly 3-5 seconds.

Finally, there are numerous reports afoot suggesting 1.25 is causing the game to freeze and lock up. We’ve not experienced it ourselves but would recommend you install the patch before you purchase the new add-on. This order seems the more glitch-free of approaches though there are others who claim to still experience unexpected hangings even when the patch pre-dates Steel and Titanium’s installation.

We’ve reached out to Guerrilla Games to see if they are aware of any known issues and if we should expect another update soon (1.26 sounds like a good number to us). Any particular advice for those stricken with this issue may also be forthcoming. We’ll keep you informed.
