Watchmen film and game; all-in-one director’s cut

Submitted by on Tuesday, 26 May 20092 Comments

Watchmen - The End is NighWarner Bros. have announced the many different DVD/Blu-ray releases for Watchmen, which is scheduled to hit home theaters in July. Currently we have the standard edition DVD and Blu-ray and then the 2-Disc Director’s Cut as well. Then there is the Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience editions.

Not only will this include the Director’s Cut of Watchmen but the Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 games as well. We’ve seen games and films packaged together before (Stranglehold/Hard Boiled) but nothing quite like this.
According to the official press release:

Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience is an innovative, retail Blu-ray Hi-Def game and film hybrid which will include Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 and the Watchmen: Director’s Cut on Blu-ray. This new cut of the action-packed blockbuster includes an additional 25 minutes of footage not seen in theaters only available on Blu-ray and DVD. The two-disc collectible set will also feature exclusive artwork in a premium package. The game will be playable on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system which can also play the Blu-ray disc of Watchmen: Director’s Cut.

While the game isn’t exactly favorable, it could be the start of something new and exciting with movies being packaged with games and vice versa. Imagine seeing The Dark Knight and Batman: Arkham Asylum being packaged as one?
