“[Don't] Kill me!” – Aliens RPG may not have expired after all
You might recall our February article where we reported the terrible news that, according to the resume of an ex-Obsidian Entertainment designer, and after a big alien-themed feasibility study performed over at Sega HQ, the publisher had decided to cancel their upcoming RPG featuring acidic xenomorphs, burly marines and wonky “Artificial Persons”.
Reports of the game’s demise may have been exaggerated however and, in fairness, we really should have known better. After all, who doesn’t lie on their C.V.?
Posted on Joystiq yesterday, Sega have apparently breathed life back into the chest-hugging RPG by stating:
“Aliens vs. Predator will be the first to ship out of our triplet of Aliens titles; hence it was shown at this year’s E3. We’ll have more news to share about the other two games in the near future so stay tuned.”
It’s not all good news from the Nostromo however, with recent reports suggesting that #2 in the trinity, Aliens: Colonial Marines, originally planned for a 2009 release, has now slipped to 2010. At least it’s not “Game Over” for the title, more: “Please Insert Coin To Continue”.
We’ve got word out to Sega for official confirmation that the Aliens: RPG has not been prematurely resurrected and we’ll update this story if we hear anything back.
