Creat Studios announces Digger and Mushroom Wars for PSN

Mushroom Wars Sure, E3 is in full swing and news is dropping from all angles but that doesn’t stop us reporting on other great announcements as they arrive in our inbox.

Creat Studios, developers of such games as Cuboid, Mahjong Tales, Smash Cars and the madness that is Magic Ball have announced that classic PC game Digger and an “all-ages fast-paced real-time strategy game” entitled Mushroom Wars will launch on the PSN this summer.

For the elderly out there, memories of Digger from the 80s should come flooding back. The upcoming version however has been given a total new millenium HD make-over with the classic version also bundled in for the purists. Players control a vehicle that can dig upwards and across while collecting trinkets and other wares while pursued by nasty creatures. If that doesn’t sound like fun – trust us – you’d be wrong.

Mushroom Wars has a distinctive PixelJunk Monsters vibe going on as warring armies battle each other in campaigns such as Domination where the objective is to take control of strategic way-points, and Conquest skirmishes which will see the total destruction of either you or your opponent.

Luckily for those that suck at these types of games, the game utilises the Elo Rating System in order to judge your skill level compared to that of your opponent’s.

Vladimir Starzhevsky, CEO of Creat Studios, is a happy chap:

“With the coming release of Digger and Mushroom Wars, we are proud to be adding two more quality titles to our growing catalogue on the PlayStation Network. We know gamers the world over will quickly become addicted to Mushroom Wars with its strategic and engaging gameplay, and fans of the classic arcade experience will be thrilled when they download our updated version of Digger.”

When some video footage of the new games becomes available, we’ll dutifully bring it to your attention.
