E3 09; EA Press Conference Recap: PS3 Edition
Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...
EA had quite the showing during their press conference yesterday. It was filled with trailers, guest appearances, and live demos. In case you missed it, we live blogged the event straight from the audience. Here’s a quick recap of the announcements made…
The conference opens with Dante showing off his mad slashing skills with a new trailer for Dante’s Inferno. Love the 300 style leap of doom at the end.
Cockpit view for Need for Speed: Shift is discussed. This brings a more realistic racing experience to the audience with the freedom to look around the cockpit in real time. A live demo is shown and at the end is a fantastic crash, seen from the inside of course.

There is also going to be a leveling system in Shift depending on your driving style. Aggressive drivers, conservative, drivers; they all have a specific style that you can focus on.
Dragon’s Age trailer shown. Lots of blood and gore in that one.
Peter Moore from EA Sports talks about Fight Night Round 4 and the dynamics that are being used. They have a live demo being played as he speaks. Looks very fluid and smooth. He also announces that the game will launch a week earlier on June 25th.
Next up, Moore announces EA Sports: MMA, a totally new franchise dedicated to Mixed Martial Arts. We can’t wait to see grown men wrestle each other to the ground.
He then announces two new features to their sports games; one of which is Team Builder. You can now build and customize your entire team, from their jerseys to the stadium, in Madden 10. The site is LIVE so check it out now.
The Saboteur gets a trailer as well. The visual style of the game is quite intriguing in that you need to return color to the world and bring hope to the people. Oh, and it has Nazis of course. Who doesn’t like to shoot Nazis?
Brutal Legend makes an appearance showing off the many rock legends that have done voice work for the game. They include Rob Halford, Jack Black, Lemmy, Lita Ford, and the prince of darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne!
Crysis 2 gets a multiconsole release and will feature the new CrytekEngine 3. We can only imagine the beautiful and detailed graphics we’ll see in this.
EA is now partners with Realtime Worlds who will be bringing us APB or All Points Bulletin. This 100 player MMO will has distinctive customization to create your own unique character. Unfortunately, this will not be hitting the PS3 but perhaps Realtime Worlds will show some love for the system in the future.
