E3 09; Uncharted 2 Official Trailer

Submitted by on Wednesday, 3 June 20092 Comments

Uncharted 2Following the gameplay demo shown at the E3 Press Conference, Naughty Dog have released the official E3 trailer.

The snow is predictably beautiful, and we get our first glimpse of some new characters. Not only that, we get a good look at some of the environments in which our intrepid hero finds himself throughout the course of the game.

remember back when we were told that the ‘Among Thieves’ title carried a lot of meaning in terms of the story itself? Well, it is worth noting that the trailer sees Elena and Drake pointing guns at each other.

From what we have seen, it looks like no one can be trusted and everyone is to be cautious of… except us, of course!

The story seems to rotate around the pursuit of the Cintamani Stone, an ancient wish-fulfilling jewel. This is a real legend and of similar proportions to the El Dorado treasure – the subject of the original game.

The main difference is that the Cintamani Stone is a much lesser-known artifact, perhaps enabling the geniuses at ND to create the twisty-turney epic we are all (im)patiently awaiting.

It is great to see the humour from the original game make a return, as this really added to the playability and character depth. For example, Elena refers to herself as ‘last year’s model’ when she introduces herself to a potential new love interest, a nice self-referencing in-joke.

Everything looks to be shaping up very well with the game, and we will be bringing you more information as we get it. Hopefully we should have an impression of the Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta in the not-too-distant future.
