E3 09; Assassin’s Creed 2 Trailer

Hot off the press, we have just managed to get a look at the Assassin’s Creed 2 cinematic from their E3 Conference.
Granted, it may just be a cinematic, but there are some interesting aspects of the video worth pointing out.
As we all know by now, the sequel to the much-maligned hit of last year is set in Venice in the late 15th Century. The game features water prominently and also includes some new gadgetry thanks to the inclusion of the genius (borderline madman?), Leonardo DaVinci.
Rumblings have been going on for some time regarding a flying machine, fuelled further by the teaser trailer for the game released not so long ago.
While we don’t get a glimpse of much in the cinematic – which is the point if you’re an assassin, right? – we are given the briefest of views of a new weapon. It looks like it is some kind of spring-loaded dagger-throwing mechanism designed into the iconic wrist-blade used by Altair in the original.
Not only that, but the carnival nature of the trailer implies that there will be a lot more going on, which ought to make the whole ‘blending in’ thing a bit easier.
If all else fails though, you can just take your chances and dive into the soup.
