Ghostlight announce Western version of Agarest Senki for PS3

Submitted by on Wednesday, 15 July 20092 Comments

Agarest: Generations of WarContinuing their tradition of bringing some of the more popular of Japan’s franchises to the West, Ghostlight have announced today that the latest in a long line of Japanese games heading our way will be Agarest: Generations of War.

Known as Agarest Senki to our Nipponese cousins, it will be of little shock to the masses to discover that Agarest: Generations of War is a … futuristic first person shooter/sports game mixed with driving elements.

Only kidding. It’s an RPG.

We’ll admit that the premise of Agarest has us intrigued. Referred to as containing something called “the Soul Breed gaming system”, the game sees the player – having already saved the world – choosing between three princesses all vying to become his Queen-bride.

The choice of bride will determine what characteristics and style the player’s character will possess throughout the game. So, it’s like The Bachelor – but with summons and characters with eyes the size of hub caps.

Agarest is the product of three collaborators – Idea Factory, Red Entertainment and Compile Heart – and will also see a special Collector’s Edition made available. This super-sized version will contain art books, postcards and “other exclusive items” which, unfortunately, will unlikely stretch to include an actual bride.

Sam Collins, Head of Sales at Ghostlight states:

“Ghostlight is delighted to be able to announce the release of Agarest: Generations of War for Europe. Our previous Japanese releases have included Shadow Hearts: from the New World and several games from the Shin Megami Tensei series and the response from the gamers of Europe has been overwhelming. We will continue to release such innovative and high quality titles in Europe for the foreseeable future.”

Look out for Agarest: Generations of War this September.
