Assassin’s Creed II – Developer Diary
Offering up an insider view on some of the hottest new properties in gaming, there’s nothing like seeing passionate people talk about something they truly love.
And when that something is also a game we can’t wait to get our hands on – it’s a big win for everyone involved.
With Zipper Interactive revealing more MAG mayhem on a weekly basis, it’s now Ubisoft’s turn to offer us some glimpses inside the production of Assassin’s Creed II.
What appears to be one of six videos, this first developer diary focuses on the protagonist of the sequel, new assassin-in-training Ezio. With the game taking place a few hundred years after the first Assassin’s Creed, there’s no surprise to see Altair out of the picture and a new guy on the scene.
Introducing us to the new killer, Creative Director at Ubisoft Patrice Desilets and scriptwriter Corey May discuss the etymology of Ezio’s name. They reveal its origins (it’s Greek) but also how, fittingly, Ezio means “Eagle”. Considering the amount of flying about Venetian rooftops we’ve seen the hitman perform in the previously released footage, we couldn’t think of a better moniker for the assassin.
However, as mentioned previously, Ezio starts off totally green in the ways of assassination and is described as a “typical Italian nobleman.” Which means he’s rich and is good with women.
Check out the diary above for more information about the story of Assassin’s Creed II including other tidbits like Ezio’s Eagle Vision gift, to the betrayal that turns an effete playboy into a deadly instrument of vengeance.
