Dark Void boards the Delay Train; can’t find a seat
Joining the ranks of Max Payne 3, Bayonetta and pretty much every other game you were hoping to get your mitts on over the holidays, Dark Void will now be held back until the less busy (ironically now more busy considering the other delays) period of Q1 2010.
Q1 is the new Q4. It’s official.
Quoting more time for “polish” and the fact that launching an FPS up against Modern Warfare 2 (no matter what it’s priced at) is a daunting prospect, Capcom have told Kotaku:
“Dark Void is moving into Capcom’s fiscal Q4 in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season.”
So, is this delay required to make the game better or is this strategic marketing at play? We’re sorry but you can’t quote both reasons. We’re thinking it’s the latter that’s driving the postponement but with a positive knock-on effect. After all, extra time will allow the developers more time for further tweaks and we’re not going to argue with getting a better (albeit later than expected) game.
With the amount of launch deferrals announced recently we’re beginning to think this fall/holiday period is actually going to be devoid of quality titles. Oh who are we kidding? We’ll be knee deep in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 the whole time and you know it.
