Develop09; Indiana Jones goes LittleBigLego

Submitted by on Thursday, 16 July 20094 Comments

LegoIndie2Speaking at the Develop Conference today, Jonathan Smith of TT Games demonstrated the new killer feature coming to Lego Indiana Jones 2, a complete level creation suite.

Demonstrating these game building abilities live to a packed auditorium, Jonathan was able to build a playable Lego space in just a few seconds.

When building these Lego worlds, you choose different characters that have individual abilities.

A ‘strong-man’ is able to, for example, place large floor tile sections into the space, whilst an engineer character has the ability to add props and other Lego items that will be familiar to players of any of the associated Lego games or, indeed, the bricks themselves.

However, unlike LBP, you will be able to share the levels with your friends but there will be no online sharing and distribution of created levels.

In addition to demonstrating the new level building feature, the session also included the latest details on Lego Universe, a forthcoming MMO based around the franchise. With over 20 million registered visitors at the main Lego site, it is clear that the MMO could become incredibly popular very quickly.

There was no footage of Lego Universe available at the keynote session. However, the suggestion is that the first gameplay will be shown at Gamescom in Cologne next month.
