DJ Hero adds a Jedi Master and some Perverts

DJ HeroEven if you’re not a fan of the DJ scene, you at least have to admire the colourful and inventive names of its super-stars.

Announced last week, Activision have confirmed that British wheel-spinners DJ Yoda and Scratch Perverts have been added to the line-up of upcoming sign of armageddon music title DJ Hero.

For those outside the UK (and probably a lot inside) who have never heard of these acts, Scratch Pervert is a collaboration between Plus One, Prime Cuts and Tony Vegas and will provide five tracks from Noisia’s “Groundhog” (Beat Juggle) to Common’s “Universal Mind Control” versus Masta Ace’s “Jeep A** Gutter”.

As for DJ Yoda – two mixes he will offer. Namely Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” versus Gang Starr’s “Just to Get a Rep”, and Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” versus Shlomo’s “Beats”.

In an interview over at IGN, FreeStyleGames’ Jamie Jackson has also intimated that some genre-splicing mash-ups could also take place between guitar and turn-table.

Asked if we will see some guitar collaborations within DJ Hero, Jamie responded:

We are aiming to release a good balance of both guitar and DJ tracks. We are really pleased and excited by the co-op DJ/guitar mode and we can see it introducing GH players to a game they may not have otherwise picked up.

The question is: have musicians who DJ gone over to the Dark Side of the musical force? Or is it the throwback rockers still stuck in the past with their antiquated instruments who are slaves to the Sith? Hmmhmmm, discuss in the comments you should.

Finally, check out the below video for some footage of DJ Yoda splicing things up like a crazy mofo.
