GC09; Final Fantasy XIII releasing in Spring 2010 for Europe and North America
However, speaking to VG247, the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase told them that this time around it could be very different, pushing a simultaneous launch with North America this Spring:
We don’t have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it’s scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territories it’s spring 2010. For Europe and North America, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously.
Back in May, we heard from the developers that they hoped the European launch would be within a year after the Japanese one, which would set it for the 2010 holiday season. Now it appears it will be close to six months after Japan, or possibly even sooner.
So a lot of you should be very happy with this news as we are, and the wait for high definition Final Fantasy will soon be coming to a close – kind of.
Of course, if you don’t mind it being in Japanese, you can buy the game online and have it shipped to you from Japan before the end of the year, as the PS3 is not region locked, except for movies. However, we would just recommend waiting a little longer and get the game when it lands where you live instead.
