Coming across like a heady mix of Onimusha, Uncharted, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus and a whole bunch of other titles, you can’t say Mercury Steam’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow doesn’t at least try and tick as many boxes as possible.

Of course, probably the most intriguing element of this new Castlevania outing is the guidance and assistance Kojima Productions are providing to the Spanish studio.

Our interest is therefore more than piqued to see how the eminent Japanese designer and his team have managed to influence and shape a medieval hack’n'slash game.

Featuring the voice talents of Patrick Stewart, Jason Isaacs, Robert Carlyle and Natasha McElhone, check out this new Gamescom trailer of the action title. Though it appears to be an extended version of the E3 edition, it still should give you an inkling as to what’s in store next year when the game hits.

Anyone else think Gabriel looks a lot like Aragorn? Just a thought.
