The E3 Just Cause 2 trailer was a guilty little pleasure.

Surprising us with its intense high-action gameplay and lush exotic graphics, the title quickly raced up our interest scale.

Now it’s Gamescom and time for the grappling hook wielding explosion-athon to show us what it’s been up to over the last few months.

Truth be told, we prefer the E3 trailer. While this new Gamescom edition performs adequately as a parody of holiday infomercials, what it also ends up doing is depicting Just Cause 2 as a lot more like the Mercenaries games than we at first thought. Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with Mercenaries; we just thought this was a little different. There are also a few graphical gripes on display here that we don’t recall seeing in the previous trailer.

It still looks like fun though and we haven’t given up on it just yet.

Just Cause 2 will be released in all regions next year.
