Uncharted 2 getting no single player demo

Submitted by on Thursday, 13 August 20092 Comments

Uncharted 2Those of you hoping for a free demo of the single player mode in Uncharted 2 will be a little disappointed as Naughty Dog has out ruled that possibility.

Not to worry though, because gamers will get the chance to play a multiplayer demo online which is probably just as good, if not better than a single player one.

Amy Hennig, Creative director for the game, questions any benefit that a single player demo can achieve as it will struggle to represent a key part of the whole game.

It’s always tough to do a single-player demo… You can always argue whether it benefits you or not in the long run, because so much of it depends on your understanding where you are in the narrative, and then appreciating what’s going on in the single-player demo.

Evan Wells, Co-President of Naughty Dog also discussed the difficulty of chucking in several hours of Uncharted 2 into a short fifteen minute teaser:

It’s a 12-15 hour experience and you have to somehow collapse that into 15 minutes. I mean, we have something like hundreds of moves to train you over several hours…

The multiplayer demo is due on the 15th of September in preparation for the full game in October and shall provide endless hours of fun. Just remember to make sure you have enough hard drive space ready as you will not want to miss out on this one!
