It’s been an interesting ride for the Way of the Samurai series.

Publisher woes, exclusivity hopping – the list goes on. With a re-release of the third game scheduled to hit Japan this fall with new content and trophy support, it looks like the cat is also out of the bag with respect to an upcoming fourth chapter.

Reported over at PS3Center.com, it would appear that a Japanese listing quotes the enhanced version of the third in the series as also containing a trailer for Way of the Samurai 4.

Of course, the news of a fourth version in a series that has sold like hot (rice) cakes in Japan is no real surprise. That said, it’s still the first we’ve heard about a next venture in feudal Japan featuring everyone’s favourite katana wielding bad-asses.

With Agetec publishing the English version of Way of the Samurai 3 in NA, we’re assuming they’ll keep a close eye on the third game’s sales figures before signing on to publish this new fourth version stateside.
