Sony have had to do a severe U-turn after news adverts that appeared in WipEout HD on the loading screens were in fact lengthening that process, thus forcing gamers to be outraged and Sony reversing the addition.

Only on Monday did Double Fusion and Sony announce the new partnership to deliver such advertising in PlayStation games, starting with WipEout HD.

Sony has released the following statement on the issue:

The ad has been removed from WipEout HD and we are investigating the situation to ensure that any in-game advertising does not affect gameplay

Naturally many gamers are upset generally that a game that they purchased all of a sudden gains advertisements out of the blue, but Sony are free to do what they like although when it comes to affecting game performance, it is clear something has to be done about it.
