Blu-ray discs to get portable copies for PSP

Submitted by on Tuesday, 29 September 20096 Comments

ps3_pspA feature that was announced way back in early 2008 was “due” to be supported later that year, but Sony has now announced that “Portable Copy” will be coming to a selection of Blu-ray discs this November.

If you need reminding, Portable Copy is a feature for Blu-ray movies that, with the help of the PlayStation 3, will allow a digital copy of a film to be put onto the PSP for no additional cost.

We have been waiting a very long time for this feature and it should make PlayStation 3 and PSP owners who love their high-def films very happy. Of course the film will not play in HD on the PSP, but it should be in very good quality and come at around 1GB in size.

Godzilla will be the first movie to support this great feature when it’s released on the 10th of November.

Unfortunately, this feature cannot be used to copy movies to other portable items such as the iPhone, or a PC.
