God of War Remakes Coming to EU… Just Not This Year

God of WarRemember we all got super-excited about the prospect of getting the original God of War goodness in 720p on out PS3s in time for Christmas?

Well, cool your Blades of Chaos and prepare yourself for bad news if you live in Europe.

See, we happened across this over at VG247.

It is a statement from SCEE that reads something along the lines of

We are currently looking into options to bring God of War I and II to SCEE consumers on PS3; however it will not be possible to release the games this calendar year. We will provide further information in due course.

Due course? Like, tomorrow? Next week?

We need to know NOW!

Anyway, scratch the God of War Collection off your EU Christmas wish list this year. We hope to get more information as soon as possible so you can all stop pulling out your hair. (There’s no hope for us; we lost all our hair after months of PS3 Slim rumours…)

Bear in mind that there is always the option to import the US version when it is released. Providing it’s not region-locked in anticipation…
