No more Neutenboom; FIFA 10 goes Dutch once again

Submitted by on Tuesday, 22 September 2009No Comment

FIFA 10 Dutch wallIt has been some time – three years in fact since EA’s ‘2006 World Cup’ title – but the Dutch national team are making an official comeback to the FIFA franchise.

The team, who have various nicknames such as ‘Oranje’, ‘The Flying Dutchmen’ and ‘A Clockwork Orange’, were not allowed to be included in previous FIFA outings due to a disagreement between EA and the Royal Netherlands Football Association (Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbal Bond or KNVB in The Netherlands).

So what does this mean for all you Oranje-fans?

No longer will you have to play as fictional characters, something that is not typically seen in the FIFA franchise but is a common feature for PES players.

No more Ronhaar (instead of Arjen Robben) and De Neutenboom (instead of Ruud van Nistelrooy).

Now that an agreement has been reached between The Royal Netherlands Football Association and Electronic Arts players like Wesley Sneijder, Robin van Persie, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Mark van Bommel can be selected in their real national team kits – and with their real names!

FIFA 10 will be available as from 2nd of October in Europe and October 20 in North America.
