Skate 3 announced for May 2010
EA has been quite successful with its own skateboarding franchise, aptly named Skate, with two games already under its belt. Today they developer announced that a third title will be released with a focus on the social and community aspects of the game.
Skate 3 allows players to create their own team of skateboarding fanatics and compete against each other in challenges, not to mention the typical career mode as well.
In addition to forming teams with fellow skaters, players can create their own graphics, videos, and even skate parks. It’s all about proving that your the best one out there. If you can dream it, you can build it.
“The social and community aspects of the SKATE franchise are something we’ve always embraced, but we’ve never done anything to the scale you’re going to see in SKATE 3,” said Senior Producer, Jason DeLong. “We’re giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends. From there, it’s all about proving yourself – teaming up, and throwing down.”
Already announced for those who pre-order Skate 3 is access to the downloadable Black Box Distribution Skate Park, home turf of Zero, Mystery, and Fallen skate teams. The release is scheduled for May 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360 systems.
