Submitted by on Thursday, 24 September 2009One Comment

Kaz Hirai TGS TGS09; Sonys Keynote Stats and FiguresSony Computer Entertainment CEO and President Kaz Hirai took the stage at Tokyo Game Show 2009 to deliver Sony’s keynote speech titled ‘Sony Computer Entertainment 2009 Strategy’.

While no major announcements were made, there were plenty of numbers to be crunched…

In regards to LittleBigPlanet, there are currently 1.28 million user created stages. To put that in perspective, it would take 29 years straight to get through every level. Of course, if you did that, imagine how many more levels will be created in those 29 years. You’d end up playing for the rest of your life!

In only two weeks, the newly released PS3 Slim model has already sold over 1 million units. With Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Assassin’s Creed II, and plenty of other games in time for the holidays, Hirai says that there will now be more than 300 PS3 titles available by Christmas.

The PlayStation Network is bigger and better than ever. Featuring accounts in 50 countries with 22 different currencies, total sales have exceeded 25 billion yen. That equates to almost $274 million! In addition, there are 39 million accounts spread across the PS3 and PSP systems. HOME is now home to over 8 million users as well.

That wraps up Kaz Hirai’s keynote speech and from what we can tell, things are looking decent for Sony and the PlayStation brand. Be sure to stay tuned as we bring you more coverage of the Tokyo Game Show.
