Demon’s Souls gets a difficulty boost this Halloween weekend

Atlus likes your tearsUncharted 2 isn’t the only game celebrating Halloween. Atlus have announced that the Demon’s Souls World Tendency will be going pure black this weekend.

So what exactly does that mean?

In Demon’s Souls, there is a feature called the World Tendency and depending on whether it is pure black or pure white, there will be differences when playing the game. Normally certain tasks must be done in order to make the game gradually fall into either extreme category. For Halloween the game is now at pure black, and that means that the enemies are stronger, and that you are weaker. Players that like to invade games will be happy to know that they will be stronger as well.

However, that’s not all. There are bonuses attached to being in a pure black World Tendency. Since everything is actually more difficult, the bonuses attached to finding loot have increased. If you’re looking to find some really good items, now will be a good time attempt to earn them. Have fun fighting the Black Phantoms, it will definitely be worth it.

“Early reports from the Kingdom of Boletaria indicate that the Old One’s power grows,” announced Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, shuffling awkwardly under the weight of his full set of fluted armor. “We’ve discovered that the nefarious Demon will seek to descend the land in pure blackness on All Hallow’s Eve. His minions will be more powerful, but the rewards for those who seek to challenge them will be greater as well. We don’t know how long this dark tendency will last, but we do advise those prone to controller-into-LCD syndrome to proceed carefully.” Jabbari then cackled as he quickly put a Thief’s ring on his finger and disappeared.

According to Atlus, the reason why they wanted to make the game even more challenging was simple:

Why? Because your tears are delicious

Sounds fun doesn’t it? Online gaming has really changed the way that we experience our games. Whether it is a small twist to the gameplay or not, the fact that the world you’re accustomed to in a game can be changed brings a new sense of delight and excitement when playing.

Enjoy your Halloween everyone, and try to get some rare items, it’s the best kind of candy!
