Gran Turismo 5The wait for Gran Turismo 5 has been a long one, and it should finally be over Spring next year.

Fans of the series have put a lot of pressure on the guys at Polyphony Digital to deliver the ultimate racing game as soon as possible.

According to the studio’s head Kazunori Yamauchi, Sony has also been standing over their shoulders and pushing for a release:

Not in terms of content, but the pressure really, if we can call it that, of the delivery dates are sometimes difficult to bear. The most important people in my life and close work are of course employees Polyphony. We are like a family. On the other hand, some people at Sony helped me and help them grow professionally.

Well most of all, we want Polyphony Digital to do the best possible job, but we also don’t want to be waiting for the game for too much longer.

Hopefully the studio can meet their current deadline of a Spring release, with Japan getting it as soon as March.

I for one stand behind Polyphony Digital’s “when it’s done” approach.

Although it didn’t work out very well for 3D Realms, look at what Polyphony Digital managed to accomplish in Gran Turismo for the PSP.

I say get off their backs already. Let the professionals do their work in peace.

I completely agree, Danny_D. I think the only reason the GT series has been so stunning, and a cut above other racing games is because of the sheer amount of time, effort and love put into it by polyphony. I cannot wait, but it’ll be ready when they say it is. I’d rather that than them just rushing it out before it’s done right.
