Download a free DivX movie for your PlayStation 3 [UPDATE]
Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...
The title may sound too good to be true, but it isn’t.
You can now download a free movie from the DivX website for any certified device and the PlayStation 3 happens to be one of them.
All you need is to get a DivX VOD Registration Code from your PS3’s System Settings and then enter that code on your website account.
You will then have to download a small file to play on your PlayStation 3 to activate it for Video-on-demand playback.
Finally, you can now choose what movie you want for free. The selection is small and not great, but the best one is probably Batman Begins. To download the film, you need the latest version of DivX installed on your PC.
To get your free movie, click here.
If you have a problem downloading the ticket file required to download the movie with your current browser, use the link from your email with Internet Explorer.
Happy Viewing!
Thanks to greavsie on the EU PlayStation forums for spotting this.

DO I LOOK LIKE A COP!
Can’t wait to pick up Batman Begins.
Has anyone been able to play the divx movie downloaded from Divx site after registered VOD code from your PS3? It first downloaded a small file to activate the Divx in PS3. Then, it downloaded from the email a 922 bytes .tix file that PS3 doesn’t understand how to play.
This Divx movie download service is probably the worst in complexities of any online movie download.
Yes what you must do is activate the PS3 system by using the small 25 second video that you must download first. The you open the ticket file using your DivX player on your PC. This will download your whole movie. After that, simply transfer via a memory stick or external hard drive to your PS3.
FYI, Batman Begins calculates at around 1.41GB.
thanks for this, it works! ace ventura ftw
Ace Venturer all the way!
Agreed it’s not the easiest of processes.
But after downloading the new Divx player and registering the PS3 divx number over the web, downloading some file onto a usb stick which I then had to plug into the ps3 and run.
then go bacl to the bleedin PC and ran the new Divx player which downloaded the movie (four and a half bloody hours!)
I burned it onto a DVD plugged that into my divx registered ps3 and bingo!
