Dynasty Warriors: Fist of the North Star trailer

Hokuto no kenWe’re a bit late on this one, but Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) is awesome and deserves to be loved by all.

Tecmo Koei is releasing Hokuto Musou in Japan next year and it just looks brilliant. In a world where Musou games are basically more of the same, this game looks to bring some much needed stylized brutality to the genre.

While it may seem random that Fist of the North Star is getting the Dynasty Warriors treatment, fans of the manga and anime will know that it actually makes sense. Kenshiro is always getting into fights with tons of enemies, and a game adaptation without loads of bad guys to explode just isn’t worth your time. You read right, you can make enemies explode.

Kenshiro uses a legendary assassin’s art called the Divine Fist of the North Star. Utilizing pressure points, Ken is able to strike his opponents and watch them explode shortly after. Awesome, right? Now imagine being able to do that in a video game with hundreds of enemies at your disposal? Even more awesome, right? The best part is that the bad dudes don’t even know that they are already dead, so they will start trashing talking, only to be told that they have a few seconds of life left. Kenshiro has much fun killing in this fashion, and we don’t blame him.

Check out the trailer below:

Potential greatness? We think so. If you haven’t read or seen Fist of the North Star yet, FUNimation has episodes subtitled for your viewing pleasure. They are free to watch, so there isn’t anything to lose! To watch the episodes, click here. It’s old school, but definitely worth it.

What do you think about the trailer? Awesome music? Hopefully Tecmo Koei will release the game outside of Japan. If not, it looks like we’ll just have to import it. As an added bonus, here’s a video of how to make Kenshiro in Tekken 6.
